Love to eat turkey? Pizza makers across the country are as obsessed with both Thanksgiving and pizza as much as we are, so much in fact they’re combining the two.
A Thanksgiving feast pizza? We’re intrigued.
PMQ Pizza Magazine reports that Canadian-based Boston Pizza created a “Christmas pizza” in 2019 as a marketing tool, arguably starting a phenomenon that has spread throughout North America. The creation featured seasoned rotisserie turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, Italian cheeses and a rosemary cream sauce. Having our taste buds tingling, the LloydPans innovation team took to the task of finding what versions of a Thanksgiving pizza were in the United States.
Gobble Gobble
East Coast-based Grotto Pizza made headlines when it introduced “The Gobbler” to its fall menu. Complete with roasted chicken, stuffing and turkey gravy, the pizza is topped with a cheese blend and a cranberry sauce swirl.
“It’s basically Thanksgiving dinner on a pie,” Jeff Gosnear, vice president of Grotto Pizza, said.”
Fellini Pizzeria in Rhode Island has a one-day-only pizza that’s the hottest ticket of the year. And, you guessed it, it’s the Thanksgiving pizza. Slow roasted turkey, homemade mashed potatoes and stuffing are on this rare pie, which is then topped with gravy and served with cranberry sauce on the side.
