This November, we’re thankful for pizza. And we don’t mean the standard pepperoni pie — oh, no. We’re thankful for the rich flavors that fall brings, from root vegetables to tart fruits, rich cheeses to cured meats. Read on for the LloydPans’ Innovation Team’s top five pizza ingredients of the season.

Pumpkin

It wouldn’t be autumn without pumpkin. This versatile vegetable (well, technically, it’s a fruit) can be pureed, roasted or fried to perfection. Some of our favorite pizza makers are pairing it with pancetta, gruyere cheese and caramelized onion. It’s the perfect mix of savory and sweet. Try a LloydPans Deep Dish Pan that can hold all of your heavy — but delicious — ingredients.

Sweet Potato

Like pumpkin, sweet potatoes can be prepared in a variety of ways. They’re especially delicious caramelized in butter. Load up your pie with soppressata, caramelized onions, mascarpone cheese and a balsamic glaze. A LloydPans Grandma-Style Pan will help you achieve a thin, yet dense, crust that will easily carry your sweet potato pie.

Butternut Squash

Butternut squash’s mild flavor profile makes it easy to pair with a variety of ingredients. Roast it and punch up the flavor with fried sage, pancetta and a soft, gooey cheese. Bake it in a LloydPans Detroit-Style Pan for a crispy-yet-doughy crust that will hold up your heavy ingredients.

Brussels Sprouts

Ever heard of charred Brussels sprouts? Trust us. Charring gives them a smoky flavor that’s perfect with pesto sauce, prosciutto and fontina cheese. This is a whole new take on boring ol’ sprouts. Use a LloydPans Quik-Disk for a crispy crust that pairs perfectly with your rich flavors.

Fall Fruits

In addition to squashes and root vegetables, fall brings a variety of tasty fruits like apples, figs, pomegranate and cranberries. Pizzaiolos around the country are pairing their fave fruit with a vegetable — Brussels sprouts and pomegranate sound great — or indulge with a dessert pizza. For crust, start with sugar cookie dough, cinnamon roll dough or crescent roll dough. Then top with your fruit of choice, paired with a sweet cheese like goat or mascarpone, and pecans or walnuts to give your pie a balanced flavor profile. Try your sweet pizza in a LloydPans Flatbread Pan, perfect for desserts.

What’s your favorite Thanksgiving flavor combo? No matter what type of pizza you’re baking, there’s a LloydPans pan for you. Don’t forget to tag us on Instagram so we can see your fall creation!
