We want our cake and we want to eat it too, thanks to UK’s Cake Week, celebrated from Aug. 30 through Sept. 5. The week-long event recognizes both home and professional bakers, and the LloydPans innovation team is particularly excited about Hotel Chocolat’s Cake Week Patisserie Virtual Tasting Experience, along with several new launches like Sticky Toffee Cake and Red Velvet Cheesecake.

Sadly, most of the new releases are only available in London, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t inspired to bake throughout the week. Food & Beverage Insider reports that North America is becoming more culturally diverse, and “consumers are expressing a desire to understand and experience authentic products that have the potential to expand their knowledge of various global trends.”

Travel + Leisure named Theresa Velazquez’s D.C.-based Baked & Wired and A Baked Joint one of America’s Best Bakeries, a family-owned and operated bakery that highlights hazelnut ganache cupcakes served in upside-down coffee beakers. The website notes that “great bakeries are not afraid to evolve or experiment, reinventing classic desserts as well as offering lesser-known European treats.”

Great British Bake-Off lovers surely love those classic British desserts like the sponge cake-centered Victoria sandwich. Erren’s Kitchen’s recipe showcases a style with buttercream and layers of raspberry jam.

And, at the end of 2020, the British were asked to name their favorite (or favourite) cake, and 42% of the country named cheesecake as the top treat. This is something American’s can certainly agree with, and thanks to LoveFood.com, the tough research of designating the best cheesecake from all 50 states is complete. From Alaska’s Glacier BrewHouse’s Creamsicle Cheesecake made with white chocolate, orange caramel sauce and cream to Wisconsin’s Simma’s Bakery’s chocolate cake, raspberry filling and chocolate ganache cheesecake, we are certainly ready to taste testing all things cake during UK Cake Week.
