It should come as no surprise that National Pizza Day is the week before Valentine’s Day, because America loves pizza. And foodservice professionals not only love to eat pizza, but they love to give back to their communities — and pizza is the perfect food to serve.

We went beneath the crust and asked our Instagram followers:

  • What do you love most about making pizza?
  • What is your favorite pizza to make?
  • Why did you become a pizza maker?

@howiekess
1. It’s a family thing to do together 2. New York-style, gas usually, but bar pie recently using our LloydPans. 3. Because I love to eat pizza and now it’s accessible 24/7.

What I love most about making pizza is that the more knowledge you have the better your product can be. Fav pizza is going to be a grandma pepperoni or Detroit pepperoni. I started making pizza as a way to give back. We serve free pizzas after a natural disaster strikes. It’s a good way to keep people’s spirits up while they make the next decisions on how to rebuild their community.

1. Everyone loves pizza. Even bad pizza is good pizza. It brings everyone together, and because they are so customizable there’s a pizza for everyone and everyone can be involved. It’s truly a community. Brought my neighborhood together during 2020. 2. Depends on my mood. My mom’s is nostalgic, my Napoli in the @gozney #roccbox is quick and a bit of a show, Chicago tavern is incredible and Detroit in your pans is so easy and takes very little effort for what might be the best style of pizza. I need LloydPans bar pizza pan to see if I change my mind. 3. Destiny. I kid but my mom made pizza every Friday until I picked up the peel. It’s my favorite food that can bring anyone together and get everyone involved. Anyone can cook.

1. Making people happy, seeing the smile on their faces. 2. Grandma and tavern. 3. Making people happy, seeing the smile on their faces.

1. It’s cathartic. To know that I can create something with simple ingredients that brings people joy is priceless. 2. Neapolitan and Detroit. 3. Pizza sauce is in my blood. It started as a family business that evolved into a way of life. Seeing that authentic, vulnerable reaction when someone takes that first bite and you see the joy on their face — that is EVERYTHING.

1. I love having the ability to create something from scratch. From pure ingredients to finished product, pizza making is a therapeutic art with no exact right or wrong result. 2. Classic margherita. 3. It started as an interest that became a hobby. I kept getting such positive reactions and encouragement from friends and family to start a business that one day I took the chance. One of the best decisions I ever made after a few drinks.
